Tazzetti Refuge, whose historical name is "Rifugio Fons d'Rumour al Rocciamelone", stands at an altitude of 2642 m. below the Colle della Resta, on the plateau called Fons d'Rumour which overlooks from above the basin of Lake Malciaussia at the head of the Viù valley.

Useful information
With 33 beds, the Tazzetti Refuge (2642 meters) is the ideal base camp for those tackling the climb to Rocciamelone (3,538 m a.s.l.) from the northern and eastern slopes and is a destination for simple excursions, also frequented by families on the occasion of a Sunday outing.
Built in 1913 by the Turin CAI section, the Tazzetti Refuge has been managed by the CAI of Chieri since 1980. The operation of the Refuge, which offers catering and lodging services to mountaineers and hikers as well as an Alpine Rescue call point, is guaranteed by the voluntary management of CAI members.
Recommendations for overnight stay
We remind you to bring a sleeping bag or sheet-bag (if you don't have one, disposable sheet-bags are available for a fee), pillowcase, towel and documents (CAI membership card for members). We provide: mattress, blankets, pillows and slippers. The refuge has showers that are reserved for those doing multi-day trekking. Cash and debit card/credit card payments are accepted, NO Satispay. Since the internet connection sometimes doesn't work well, we recommend you also have some cash with you.

The Refuge has 3 dormitories (with 18, 6 and 9 beds respectively).
The "Bed only", "Half Board" and "Full Board" rates are intended for dormitory accommodation.

From Friday July 10 to Sunday September 07 2026, the Refuge will be open continuously, every day.
WINTER AND SPRING CLOSURE
During the winter and spring closure period, the Refuge has a room with 6 beds, unheated, always accessible from outside.

How to reach us
The refuge is reachable in 2.5 h - 3.0 h of walking starting from Lake Malciaussia, Municipality of Usseglio, Upper Viù Valley (Lanzo Valleys). Maps
Public transport from Turin and Lanzo to Villaretto
BUS: from Turin (Porta Susa) take bus no. 3329 to Germagnano (railway station) from there take the line bus no. 160 that goes to the Viù Valley up to Villaretto (after Usseglio) (central Enel stop). From the bus stop in Villaretto you must hitchhike (ask for Margone and Lake Malciaussia). Alternatively, from the Villaretto bus stop you can walk to Margone (about one hour), cross Margone (about 15 minutes) and continue from Margone to Lake Malciaussia (about 1 hour and 15 minutes / 1 hour and 30 minutes max). Total expected time from Villaretto to Lake Malciaussia: 2.5 / 3 hours.
