Viù Valley, SP32 reopens between Margone and Lake Malciaussia

VIEU VALLEY – Starting Wednesday, May 20, Provincial Road 32 of the Vieu Valley reopens in the section between the town of Margone and Lake Malciaussia, following the completion of safety operations. Throughout the summer reopening period, some restrictions remain in effect. The full article at the following link.

The section, between km 32+500 and km 37+160, was closed during the winter period due to the impossibility of guaranteeing snow removal. The reopening was ordered after a technical inspection and the final cleaning operations carried out by the staff of the Lanzo-Viù territorial Circle of the Road Management 1 Department of the Turin Metropolitan City.

The operations involved the removal of material that had collapsed during winter, the restoration of signage and the repositioning of guardrails and concrete barriers, temporarily removed to prevent damage caused by possible avalanches. In some sections, it was also necessary to intervene on the dry stone walls, characteristic elements of the historic former military road.

For the entire duration of the summer reopening, some restrictions remain in force: prohibition of transit for vehicles with a mass exceeding 3.5 tonnes and length exceeding 6 meters, ban on buses, speed limit of 30 km/h and prohibition of overtaking, parking and stopping. Emergency vehicles, law enforcement and vehicles engaged in maintenance and enhancement work in the Malciaussia lake area are excluded from the restrictions.

The Municipality of Usseglio is responsible for monitoring compliance with the ordinance of May 18 and managing parking in the Malciaussia locality.
