Pointe du Ribon (3,527 m)
Narrow and airy ridge between snow and rock, with spectacular views of the French-Italian border. Climbing to Colle della Resta and then along the border ridge, you reach Selle du Ribon, the starting point for the slender rocky ridge that leads to the summit.
Behind the shelter starts a good trail that with westward direction climbs a ridge, first by path then by broken schist and reaches the Colle della Resta m 3183.
From the pass you access the glacier and traverse it in a NE direction (passing under the west slope of Punta delle Cavalle) reaching slopes and rocky terraces covered with debris and rubble near the Selle du Ribon.
Without reaching the latter and without a mandatory route (there are no paint marks or cairns) you head towards the overlying southwest slope crossing it without difficulty. You thus reach the sub-peak from which descending to a gap you climb back to the summit. The route is initially snowy, then on rock progressively narrower and more exposed. Itinerary for experienced mountaineers with good sense of balance.
Difficulty: EE — Elevation gain: approximately 880 m — Time: approximately 3h.
