Tazzetti Refuge: your home at altitude

In Valle di Viù (Valli di Lanzo), at an altitude of 2,642 meters. Since 1980 it has been managed by CAI Chieri with passion and alpine hospitality spirit.

A landmark for CAI hikers and mountaineers since 1935, the Ernesto Tazzetti Refuge stands in the heart of the Valli di Lanzo, in the enchanting Fons d' Rumour basin, at 2,642 meters above sea level. Reachable in 2.5–3 hours of walking from Lake Malciaussia, near Usseglio (Turin), it has been managed since 1980 by the CAI of Chieri thanks to the commitment and dedication of volunteer members.

With 33 beds, it offers refreshment and accommodation to hikers, mountaineers and families. It is the ideal base for those who want to tackle Rocciamelone from the north and east slopes, and also serves as a reference center for mountain rescue at altitude. An authentic place, where the mountains are experienced with respect and conviviality.

The refuge is open on weekends (from Saturday lunch to Sunday lunch) from June 20 to September 20, and with continuous service from July 10 to September 6, 2026. For overnight stays, booking through Book Refuges is mandatory.

Beautiful high-altitude place to stay overnight and then continue to the summit of Rocciamelone, but also as a destination for a day excursion. Excellent hospitality managed by CAI volunteers. Enchanting panorama also towards Lake Malciaussia, after less than three hours of walking on a well-marked trail.

Located in a very panoramic position, it is a good starting point for the climb to Rocciamelone. Managed by volunteers from the Chieri CAI section who provide excellent service. It offers all essential services at reasonable prices. It has only two rooms, one with eight beds and the other with 18, comfortable, well-organized and clean.

Tazzetti is a 5-star mountain refuge, excellently managed by CAI volunteers from Chieri. Clean, good food, fair prices. The very warm welcome reserved for every guest is an excellent calling card. The panorama is magnificent: on one side the imposing Rocciamelone, on the other the Malciaussia lake. It's definitely worth it!
